My name is Elizabeth Swann-Turner and I'm a pirate lord...

Or so they say, anyway. To me, I'm still just Elizabeth.

I'm captain of the "Empress of the Sea" and I'm in love with a truly wonderful man.

Well, I guess all of that tells you my name and what I do, but not really who I am, does it? Then again, maybe that is who I am.

Who knows who any of us are in reality?

I'm the only child of the English governor of Port Royal in the Caribbean. I was supposedly one of society's darlings -- and I absolutely hated it. I'm not very good at being a proper lady and I really despise corsets. (You think you can handle pain or anything that comes your way? Then you wear the damn corset.) Even as a child, I dreamed of adventures on the seas and I wanted more that an arranged marriage to a man that I did not love.

Then, I got kidnapped by pirates and everything about my life changed.

Everything.

Barbossa and his men attacked Port Royal because the Aztec coin in my possession led them there. I tried to parlay with them, and they kidnapped me because of who they thought I was. I would tell that lie again if I felt I needed to protect one I love.

Will freed the pirate Jack Sparrow from jail and together they stole a ship and came after the pirates to rescue me.

Nothing was ever the same for any of us after that.
